I overheard a conversation in the Studio McGee section at Target not long ago that I was dying to insert myself into.
Two women were browsing, picking things up and commenting how cute they were, but one of them kept complaining that she didn’t know what to buy because she wasn’t sure what her house actually needed and she didn’t want to get a bunch of stuff that would look random and make her house look like a Target aisle.
I was really wanting to wheel my cart closer and say, “Excuse me, I can help you!” But I was still in my workout clothes and didn’t look like someone who could be trusted to have a tasteful opinion so I stayed where I was smelling candles.
So here is my response to that lady in Target, and anyone else wondering what type of decor and furniture pieces your home needs: I CAN HELP YOU! This problem is just one of the many that we will solve during an interior design service called a Design Consultation. It is a $385 service that can be done locally here in Frisco Texas and any of the surrounding areas or virtually if you live outside of North Dallas. At your 2 hour Design Consultation appointment you walk me through your home and get all of my recommendations and get answers to all of your questions. You can even show me decor and furniture items you are considering so we can discuss if they will work, where they will work, and how to style them so they have maximum impact.
Based on your specific needs we discuss things like what type and style of furniture will work in each area of your home and how it should be arranged. We make decisions like which wall beds should be placed against, what size the rugs should be, what metal finish should be used for lighting and hardware, what overall color scheme would be best, how many throw pillows your sofa needs, and whether or not you should get a sectional. We talk about all of these types of things and more.
